About the Blog

Ciao, folks. BB here. Avid naturalist, serial Hispanophile and aspiring writer.

Having recently graduated from Durham University, I’m bound for Spain once again, back to my old post in Villafranca de los Barros, and this time it’s a no-strings-attached affair. I can come and go as I please without any Arabic quotas to worry about. The next few years are looking rather exciting, and I’m not entirely sure where they’ll take me. The ultimate goal is to master the Spanish language, but there are plenty of other adventures great and small to be had along the way. Join me for a spell, if you will. I’ll show you that there’s a great deal more to Extremadura than the A66.

I kick-started this blog primarily to document my various misadventures over the course of my university year abroad, which meant all manner of culture shock, lost-in-translation fiascos and duels with pencil-pushing admin fiends – not to mention a healthy balance of reality. On the bright side, that all makes for terrific writing. I decided it was probably worth waiting until I had at least something down on paper so you might have an idea of what’s to come. The British Council’s email of acceptance seemed like a good place to start. So we’ll just see how it goes from there.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your stay!
